While marathons are the talk of the town and a major goal for most runners and fans of running, for some, they’re simply not enough. These running super-athletes crave more, and want to push themselves to new limits. As such, ultramarathons – marathons that are significantly longer and more strenuous than a normal 26+ mile marathon – have come into existence.
 
For the average person, simply completing a 26-mile run seems to be an almost impossible task. (…)

Having a Flutter on the Cheltenham Gold Cup

HISTORYThe first recognised Cheltenham Festival took place at Prestbury Park in 1902. The precursor to the Gold Cup, a four-mile steeplechase, for amateur riders was run in 1904. The inaugural Cheltenham Gold Cup was run in 1924, won by Red Splash. Tokyo Bid for the 2016 Olympic Games

Despite Chicago being considered the front-runner for the 2016 summer Olympics, the city of Tokyo in Japan is confident that they will secure the athletic spectacle. Their confidence and hopes are placed in making a bid for the ‘compact’ games; all the venues will be within a six mile radius. Athletes will be housed in the traditional village, composing of five high-rise buildings, and a 100,000 seat Stadium set on the Tokyo waterfront will be the highlight of the bid. (…)

To Africa and Back by Articulated Bus - 20,000km Under the Sun
