The Gators football team concluded its 2008 spring training with the annual Orange and Blue Debut Saturday afternoon in front of a record crowd of 61,000 fans. Blue defeated Orange, 28-14, at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium before the highest-attended spring game. The previous record of 58,500 was established in head coach Urban Meyer’s 2005 debut. Blue won its second straight spring contest on Saturday, and has won three out of the last five Orange and Blue Debuts. (…)

Rainey Brings the Sun Out for the Gators

It was Florida’s spring game and it was time to see what Chris Rainey could do. Could he live up to the hype? The answer was a resounding “YES!” He made one mistake by not starting the 40 yard dash because he was confused, but that was the first and last mistake Rainey made. He followed up by running the fastest 40 yard dash of his career at 4.24 seconds, beating the rest of the field by five yards. (…)

Tim Tebow, the Florida Gators’ Quarterback is exceptional in many ways. He received the Heisman Trophy as a sophomore last year. This was the first time the trophy was ever awarded to a sophomore.

Gators Feel the Draft

For the last 9 out of 11 years, and 18 out of 24 years, there have been Florida Gators picked in the first round of the NFL Draft. This year is no exception. Earlier today, Derrick Harvey was picked in the first round for 2008. Derrick is the 45th player to be picked in the first round, for this decade, tying the 1990’s record for the most players picked.
 
It’s not a surprise that Harvey was picked. He certainly has the talent. (…)

Eli Manning finally proved that he is more than just Peyton’s little brother. He led his team to the biggest upset in Super Bowl history. Sure, the spread was bigger when the Patriots upset the Rams in Super Bowl XXXVI, but the spread is just a number. This year’s Pats were supposed to be the first team since the ’72 Dolphins to go undefeated. The Giants weren’t supposed to make the playoffs.
