Professional Quarterback Warm-up Drills

Okay here are some professional warm up drills for quarterbacks and other football players to get loose and ready to play. A lot of people have the misconception that throwing the ball with velocity is all about arm strength. Arm strength begins in the hips and the feet. So we are going to do some drills to warm up and initiate the explosive core in our hips and changing our direction with our hips to create velocity and get our hips loose.

We’re going to face each other and face our target. We have our instep of our foot pointing directly at our target and we have our front shoulder which is like a sight of a gun also pointing at our target. We are going to have good front hand pressure of the ball and have the ball seeded above the numbers on the shelf. This will allow you to have a short, quick motion and have a good release to our target. As you step to throw, step directly with your front foot at the target and flipping your wrist down to your opposite leg. You should finish with your weight on your front foot. The other player will throw the ball back the same way. Keep throwing back and forth until you feel like you have had a good workout.

Now, I am going to just give you a few tips for playing quarterback. The first thing is you have to have quick feet. This will allow you to get out of the pocket when you have to and be a lot more agile. Jump roping is a great way to practice this skill and get your feet moving. One thing that I have learned along the way is to not compare yourself with any other guys. you might not be able to jump as high as someone, or run as fast, throw as far, or maybe be as good. You can be the best athlete that you can be and you can maximize your potential. It all just comes with hard work!
