Panama City on Florida’s panhandle has become one of the state’s most popular beach resorts and tourist destinations.
The city is also a popular hub for recreational boating and contains several excellent marinas. One reason why these City has become so popular with boaters is that it is on the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway.
Bay Point Marina is a large and very modern facility in the suburb of Panama City Beach just north of Panama City. Bay Point advertises itself as the jumping off point for boats across the Gulf of Mexico. Bay Point offers a lot of amenities not found at other marinas including an onsite restaurant called 30 degrees Blue which contains the Cobalt Bar.
Bay Point offers boaters transient, monthly and annual docking facilities. All of Bay Point’s slips have cable TV, phone and 50/250 or 30/125 volt shore power connections. The yacht care services at Bay Point are truly outstanding boat cleaning and maid service available in the Marina. Radio dispatched marina attendants are on call to cater to all of the yachters’ needs. An emergency repair service is also available at Bay Point. Two high speed pumps provide boaters with diesel fuel at competitive prices.
A really nice touch is the state of the art weather information service available on site which features on line Doppler radar. This can warn boaters about the dangers from potential hurricanes and other storms.
Some standard amenities including a swimming pool, showers, and laundry facilities are available. A really good extra amenity is daily dockside newspaper delivery for those who want to catch up on their reading. Another great amenity is a courtesy car to take transient yachters and boaters around town or to the airport. Web based video cameras are available so snowbirds who keep their yachts can keep watch at them from out of town.
The City owns and operates two marinas in the city itself. The Panama City Marina is located on the Intracoastal Waterway one block from downtown City. This 240 slip marina can accommodate vessels between 30 and 120 feet in length. The Marina is open seven days a week and features a Marina store, a fuel dock, 110/220 amp electrical hookups and cable TV hookups. Showers and laundry facilities are also available. So are fax and copy machines. The marina has a nighttime security guard to protect yachts.
A really good thing about these City is that it is in walking distance of downtown Panama City, the beach and lots of shops, restaurants, and other attractions. Weekday bus service connects the marina with the Panama City Mall.
